Proyecto Juan Diego offers Social Work Interns, both BSW and MSSW, the opportunity to enhance their experience and expand their knowledge by exploring social work principals, assisting walk-ins, community engagement, individual and group empowerment.
AmeriCorps VISTA PROGRAM
The goal of AmeriCorps VISTA is to support organizations that fight poverty by encouraging volunteers and mobilizing funding. This VISTA project will break the cycle of poverty by strengthening Proyecto Juan Diego's management systems, analyzing data trends to improve services and better communicate them to donors, and developing volunteer recruitment and management processes and procedures to allow the organization to empower more low-income families to be healthy and self-sufficient community members through preventative health services, educational programs, and family activities.

Requirements: 18+ years old, pass history criminal check, and legal immigration status.
This position is responsible for assisting PJD to identify and implement a Data Management Platform appropriate for the services and programs for the agency.

Under the direction of the project director, VISTA member will expand on the current array of grant proposals to increase funding at Proyecto Juan Diego, identifying new funding sources and increasing current ones.

This position will be responsible for conducting research about the demographics of the Rio Grande Valley, Brownsville, and the Cameron Park Colonia. They will create an internal live database of where to find accurate and salient data about the population, regarding poverty, health, education, and other appropriate measures.
